Kouyou is the stoic father of Akira Touya. Regarded as the world's premier Go player, he holds five prestigious titles: Meijin, 10-dan, Tengen, Gosei, and Ouza. Among Japanese players, he is considered the only one capable of standing against the Go Saint Shusaku, also known as Sai. Like the spirit, Kouyou's ultimate ambition is to achieve the Kami no Itte. Sai has wanted to play against him since his first return to the living realm, recognizing his immense strength.
