Synopsis
Continues the story of Marmalade Boy Movie
Serving as a prelude to the Marmalade Boy TV series, this story follows Yuu as they recall the day their parents announced their decision to divorce and instead marry members of another couple. Troubled by this news, Yuu goes for a walk and spots a girl, falling in love at first sight. Determined to get closer, Yuu follows the unaware girl and finds their feelings deepening. However, the truth is revealed: the girl is actually the daughter of the very couple his parents are marrying.

In Marmalade Boy, Miki Koishikawa's world is shaken when her parents return from Hawaii and reveal their plan to divorce and swap partners with another couple they met there. Reluctantly, Miki attends a dinner to meet the new family, where she comes across Yuu Matsuura, the charming son of the other couple. As Miki adapts to life in a larger household with her newly blended family, she starts to develop romantic feelings for Yuu. With the support of her best friend, Meiko Akizuki, who is keeping her own secret relationship hidden, Miki tries to manage the challenges of the upcoming school year. However, their path grows more complicated with other potential love interests for both Miki and Yuu, along with lingering hidden emotions from their pasts that they are hesitant to confront.
Background
Marmalade Boy received a Taiwanese 30-episode live-action television series (called Júzǐjiāng Nánhái). The series starred pop star Stella as Miki and F4 member Ken Zhu as Yuu. Although the basic premise was the same, it did not feature many of the characters of the anime, and the love triangles were considerably simplified. It also received a dating simulation video game was released by Bandai Entertainment for the Nintendo Game Boy system in Japan on January 1, 1995. It was released for the Super Famicom (Super Nintendo) system on April 21, 1995. The game puts players in the role of Miki, who must try to win the heart of one of her three potential suitors from the series: Yuu, Ginta, or Kei.
