In "To LOVE Ru Darkness," the already chaotic dynamic between the inhabitants of Planet Deviluke—led by its female royalty—and the humans of Earth, primarily focused on the perpetually exhausted Rito Yuuki, escalates to new heights. When Princesses Nana and Momo transfer to an Earth school under the watchful supervision of their older sister Lala, a fragile peace seems possible. However, Momo's attempt to foster sisterly affection between Rito and Lala is met with fierce resistance from Lala, who opposes any harem formation. Suddenly, Yami—known as the Golden Darkness—arrives with the subtlety of a supernova, bringing a legion of mind-controlled high school students in her wake. This development plunges Rito's life into further despair, unless a certain half-demon princess steps in with formidable Devilukean firepower to restore order.

In "To LOVE Ru Darkness 2," the emotionless assassin Golden Darkness investigates the secrets of her changed existence, while the malevolent Nemesis secretly manipulates her younger sister, Mea. Alongside their recently discovered mother, Tearju, this once-fractured family now draws widespread attention. At the same time, Princess Momo's Harem Plan encounters obstacles as Rito struggles to confess his long-held feelings to Haruna, who has begun to develop her own emotions. Yet, beneath the apparent calm, a dark force threatens to overshadow the love, happiness, and bonds that Rito and his harem share. Only the power of love may be able to counter the approaching darkness.
