Murasame, Shizu
Summary
Shizu Murasame is the spirit of a young woman who perished within the ruins of an old school building four centuries ago. Standing at 159 cm tall with a weight of 49 kg and measurements of 82-56-81 cm, she is characterized by her sincerity, kindness, and intense curiosity regarding the modern era. Despite these traits, she harbors an extreme phobia of dogs, a fear comparable to Haruna’s terror of the supernatural. She is commonly referred to as Oshizu, with the prefix O serving as an honorific for women. When overwhelmed by fright, Shizu can unleash bursts of mental pressure powerful enough to destroy surrounding objects, and she possesses the ability to influence others through sheer force of will. A recurring comedic element involves these stress blasts frequently tearing her clothing, often leaving characters like Rito in embarrassing situations. After encountering Rito and the others, she begins to explore the world beyond the abandoned school. Through her ability to sense emotions while possessing others, she becomes aware of Haruna’s romantic feelings for Rito and actively encourages her to confess. Her existence transitions from that of a ghost to a physical being when Ryouko constructs a prosthetic body for her to inhabit. This artificial form is designed with biological properties, allowing it to look and feel like a genuine human body. However, during moments of high excitement, her spirit may briefly disconnect and leave the prosthetic form. In her current role, Shizu works as a nurse for Ryouko, who is responsible for maintaining the physical body. Her physical presence varies across adaptations; she lacks a new body in the first anime series, appearing only as a spirit, whereas she possesses a physical form in the manga, the OVA releases, and the newer anime series.
