Celine
Seiyuu / Dub
Summary
Celine serves as Lala’s gift for Rito’s sixteenth birthday, manifesting as a multi-story, carnivorous, and sentient sunflower residing in the backyard of the Yuuki household. Despite her monstrous appearance, Rito holds her in high regard, considering her part of his family. She exhibits human-like behaviors, such as sweating in humid conditions, donning an oversized scarf on cold days, and eating ramen when hungry, though she still requires water and sunlight for basic sustenance. When Celine falls victim to a fatal illness, Rito commits himself entirely to saving her by seeking out Kare Kare and the luckyberry. Together with his friends, he travels to the S-level-danger class planet of Misletoe to obtain an antidote, only to discover upon their return that the plant has withered. However, it had actually been germinating; from a single seed emerged an infant girl version of Celine, identifiable by the flower atop her head. This transformation baffles Momo, who is well-versed in galactic botany, as Celine’s biological composition remains a complete enigma. Calling Rito her "mama," the infant Celine displays a low tolerance for cola. The flower on her head can release pollen that temporarily makes anyone who inhales it fall in love with Rito, a side effect stemming from Celine’s own affection developed through daily care. As a child, she playfully tackles girls and attempts to breastfeed them, a recurring gag. Often mistaken for Rito’s daughter, Celine appears in both her plant and infant forms in the animated adaptation.
