In a world where vampires are born under a crimson moon, Vanitas, born during a full blue moon, faced disdain and isolation from his own kind. He created the Book of Vanitas, a cursed grimoire said to be a tool for his vengeance against all vampires. "Vanitas no Karte" centers around Noé Archiviste, a young man traveling through 19th-century Paris by airship with the sole purpose of finding the Book of Vanitas. During a surprise attack by vampires, Noé encounters Vanitas, a doctor who treats vampire illnesses and surprisingly appears to be an ordinary human. This Vanitas, inheritor of the name and the notorious book, uses the grimoire to heal his patients, but his benevolent exterior hides a darker reality.
