Above the mortal world, deities from Ancient Greece, Norse mythology, and Hinduism convene under Zeus's leadership to decide humanity's fate. Every thousand years, these gods assemble to vote on whether humans should continue to exist. This time, because of humanity's persistent mistreatment of one another and the planet, the gods unanimously decide to wipe out all humans. Before enacting this verdict, Brunhilde, one of the thirteen Valkyrie demigods, proposes an alternative: instead of simply annihilating humans, why not test them through Ragnarök—a series of one-on-one battles between gods and human champions? Impressed by this bold suggestion, the divine council quickly agrees, convinced the contest will prove the gods' superior might. For humanity to have any chance against the divine beings, Brunhilde must recruit the most exceptional individuals from history; otherwise, the end for humans is inevitable.

Shuumatsu no Walküre ranked fifth in the 2019 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! for the Male Readers division. The series has been published digitally in English as Record of Ragnarok by VIZ Media under the VIZ Signature imprint since October 26, 2021, and in print since January 18, 2022. It is also published digitally by Comikey Media through Comikey and by Coamix through Manga Hot. The manga has also been released in Brazilian Portuguese by NewPOP Editora since September 30, 2021; in Italian by Edizioni Star Comics since October 21, 2020; and in Polish by Waneko since July 14, 2022.
