In Kagurabachi, eighteen years before the present timeline, during the Seitei War, Kunishige Rokuhira stood as Japan's most celebrated figure. A master bladesmith, he forged six magical swords, each imbued with distinct powers that secured Japan's victory. Following the war, Kunishige retreated to the mountains with his son, Chihiro, who began learning the craft of swordmaking. On the verge of turning fifteen, Chihiro resolved to carry on his father's legacy. However, his dreams were crushed when he witnessed his father's brutal murder at the hands of a group of powerful sorcerers, who also stole the sacred swords. Now, three years later, Chihiro harbors deep hatred and a burning desire for revenge. Armed with Enten, the seventh and secret enchanted sword forged by Kunishige, Chihiro systematically targets members of the Hishaku organization, which he holds responsible for his father's death. Though Chihiro has yet to fully harness Enten's power or perfect his swordsmanship, he is determined to recover the stolen katanas, avenge his father, and honor his father's legacy.

Background

Kagurabachi ranked sixth in the 2024 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! in the Male Readers division. In the same year, it ranked first in the Best Printed Manga category at the 10th Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Awards. The manga was nominated for the 70th Shogakukan Manga Awards in 2025. The series has been simulpub digitally in English through MANGA Plus. The volumes have been published by VIZ Media under the Shonen Jump imprint since November 5, 2024. It has also been released in Italian by Edizioni Star Comics since March 18, 2025.
