In the era before the founding of Fairy Tail, the future guild master Mavis Vermillion is placed in the care of the Red Lizard guild, where she faces mistreatment and is assigned demeaning chores. Despite the abuse, Mavis remains resilient, believing that crying would prevent her from ever meeting fairies. Her servitude ends abruptly when the Blue Skull guild attacks, leaving Mavis and Zera, the guild master's daughter, as the only survivors. Mavis and Zera spend years together on the island, supporting one another through their isolation. Their secluded life changes when a group of treasure hunters arrives, seeking the sacred Tenrou Jade. With these newcomers entering their world, Mavis sees an opportunity for her long-held dream of encountering fairies to finally become a reality.
