Ijuuin, Hayato

Summary

Hayato Ijuin, also known as Umibōzu, which translates to sea bonze and refers to a ghost in Japanese mythology, operates as a sweeper in the underground world, much like Ryo Saeba. Possessing a massive physique and exceptional combat prowess, he functions independently and rarely requires a partner. He stands as Ryo’s equal in most regards, and the two share a competitive rivalry. Their history includes a past confrontation in Central America where Saeba damaged Umibōzu’s eyes, yet they dismiss the incident as non-personal fallout from the war rather than a reason for enduring hatred. Despite this, they frequently cross paths while investigating the same cases from opposing sides, leading to multiple duels between them.
