Summary

Standing at 5'6", Motoko Kusanagi is an enigmatic figure who has long led a SpecOps unit before being recruited by Aramaki to join Section 9. Her origins and birthdate remain shrouded in mystery, though she cannot be older than sixty, as full-cyborgization became widespread only around that time. Undergoing full cyborgization at a very young age, she has cycled through a series of artificial bodies as she matured. This extensive history likely grants her exceptional proficiency in controlling various cyborg forms, even allowing her to operate multiple bodies simultaneously. Her skills as a hacker are equally formidable; she is officially registered as a Super Wizard Class Hacker and navigates the net with the same ease in a cyborg body as she does without one. While her romantic life is not depicted in the Stand Alone Complex series, the original manga reveals she is bisexual and dated the leader of Section 1 for a period. Regardless of her actual age, Major Kusanagi currently prefers the form of a woman in her twenties. In the Stand Alone Complex design, she is recognized by her short violet hair and eyes, while the Arise design portrays her as younger, featuring short indigo hair and blue eyes as she battles for autonomy against Unit 501 of the Army.
