The story's central character is Margarette, a young woman aspiring to become a sheriff despite her limited experience. Over the course of the journey, she gains plenty of practical knowledge. Managing to flee the submarine attack, the crew concealed the 707 within a valley. However, Red attempted to collapse the valley, intending to bury the submarine in a torrent of mud. The 707 barely escaped the debris and ended up trapped in a crater. Unfortunately, this location contained a layer of pure water where the submarine could not surface. At that critical moment, a barrage of torpedoes was launched directly at the 707.
