Magic Knight Rayearth II
魔法騎士(マジックナイト)レイアース II
Synopsis
Continues the story of Magic Knight Rayearth
While on a school field trip to Tokyo Tower, three young girls—Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu—are suddenly whisked away to the magical realm of Cephiro. There, they are met by Master Mage Clef, who informs them that they have been called forth to serve as the legendary Magic Knights and rescue Cephiro from peril. The girls are far from thrilled by this revelation and simply wish to return home. Clef goes on to explain that they must locate the three Rune Gods to aid them in battle, and he grants each of them armor and magical abilities. They then learn from Clef that High Priest Zagato has abducted Princess Emeraude, the Pillar of Cephiro. It is the Pillar's sole duty to sustain Cephiro's life and harmony through her prayers; without Princess Emeraude, Cephiro would inevitably descend into chaos. To ever have a chance of going back home, Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu must confront Zagato's minions and find the Rune Gods. In the process, they come to understand that friendship and loyalty are the only things they can trust in the deteriorating world of Cephiro.
In this installment
A short time has elapsed since the Magic Knights faced off against Princess Emeraude's Mashin in their final battle. Still dealing with the loss of the princess, Hikaru Shidou returns to Tokyo Tower. There she reunites with her companions Umi Ryuuzaki and Fuu Hououji for the first time since their sudden adventure to rescue Cephiro. Haunted by visions of the realm they departed, Hikaru takes comfort in learning that her friends also yearn to go back and keep protecting the kingdom they struggled to save. Their desire is granted when a bright light identical to the one from their first encounter envelops Tokyo Tower. The Magic Knights again mount a flying fish and travel to Cephiro, only to find it barren and devastated. With the Pillar's strength diminished, monsters wander unchecked, and three countries compete to seize Cephiro in order to dominate the Pillar. Making things more difficult is the mysterious Lady Debonair, who declares herself the rightful successor to the fallen kingdom. Confronted by fresh trials and enemies, the three Magic Knights set out on a new mission to bring peace back to Cephiro. Bolstered by their friendship, the group stays resolute against the formidable challenge.
