Presea

Summary

Presea serves as Cephiro’s foremost blacksmith, revered in her homeland as a Pharle or artisan. As a student of Clef, she harbors romantic feelings for him and assists the Magic Knights by crafting their legendary escudo swords. Her personality exhibits a distinct sadistic streak, particularly toward Mokona. She frequently devises elaborate punishments for his messiness, such as yanking his ears, hanging him upside down while she performs a war dance in a Native American headdress, or forcing his perpetually closed eyes open. When she accidentally traps the Magic Knights, she similarly contemplates torturing them by stretching their cheeks or boiling them in a large pot, again donning a feathered headdress and dancing. In the anime adaptation, she is killed by one of Ascot’s beast summons, a death that creates a significant plot hole. To resolve this inconsistency in the second anime series, her twin sister Sierra assumes her identity. Only Clef, Mokona, and Alcyone discover the deception, with Alcyone noting that Sierra’s motive stems partly from her love for Clef. When confronted, Sierra claims she is impersonating Presea to aid the Knights and honor her sister’s legacy, concealing her own affection for Clef. Her preferred food is V-tek, a candy native to Cephiro, though she also greatly enjoys the Earth candy given to her by Hikaru.
