Summary
Ferio is a formidable warrior initially encountered by the Magic Knights in the Forest of Silence. A tough young man who wields a sword taller than himself, he quickly develops a soft spot for Fuu, a feeling that evolves into love by the second season. His tendency to withhold the truth makes him difficult for the heroines to trust. In the anime, he gifts Fuu a jewelled orb, whereas in the manga, he gives her a ring identical to the one he wears on his ear; although Fuu loses the item when the trio returns to Tokyo in the first series, Ferio provides her with a replacement in the second. Since he possesses an identical piece, he uses it to maintain communication with her throughout the first series. During the anime's first season, Ferio pretends to join Ascot, Lord Zagato's child summoner, who sets a trap for the Magic Knights using his sound-sensitive monster, Pajero. Later, while the Magic Knights confront Inouva's true form, Ferio regains his childhood memories, realizing he was Princess Emeraude's only younger brother. He hears his sister's voice emanating from his orb, instructing him on how to defeat Inouva, and relays this information to the Knights, enabling them to slay their enemy. In the OVA, Ferio begins as a villain capable of summoning and controlling swarms of insects. He shares a close relationship with Ascot and, in a twist on his original characterization, battles Fuu as the antagonist. After eavesdropping on Lantis' conversation with Hikaru and the others, he assists Lantis in fighting Cephiro's spirits and later delivers Lantis' sword to the combined Mashin to help them battle Eagle. His name is derived from the Honda Civic Ferio, and Ascot's monster from the episode featuring him is named after the Mitsubishi Pajero.
