In his pursuit of filmmaking, Junpei Manaka stumbles upon a striking moment in middle school when he catches a glimpse of strawberry-patterned underwear against the backdrop of a sunset. Believing the girl to be his classmate, Aya Toujou, he makes efforts to get closer to her to recreate that memorable skirt flip for artistic reasons. However, when he encounters her the following day, she appears entirely different from the memory he cherishes. Just as Junpei considers starting anew, he comes across the school idol, Tsukasa Nishino, who confidently reveals she is wearing strawberry-patterned panties that day. Convinced that Tsukasa is the girl he seeks, Junpei devises a plan to confess to her, aiming to become her boyfriend and eventually capture footage of her underwear.

Ichigo 100% was published in English as Strawberry 100% by VIZ Media under its Shonen Jump Advanced imprint from July 3, 2007, to October 5, 2010, up to the 14th volume. To promote the publication of manga in Germany, the series was released in German by Tokyopop from April 2006 to August 2009, in collaboration with VIZ Media and Shueisha. The manga was also published in Brazilian Portuguese by Panini Comics under its Planet Manga imprint from April 2010 to April 2013.
