Shinya is a mediocre student with no athletic skill, a cowardly nature, and an overall sense of worthlessness. One day, he encounters Haruna, a girl who may alter his destiny. She proclaims him the Messiah—the Lord's chosen one to rescue her world—and declares herself his shield. Could this be real? Is his lifetime of incompetence merely the counterbalance for such a monumental purpose? Is he truly the Messiah? And if so, can he possibly save himself, let alone an entire realm? Included one-shots: Volume 4: Night Keeper and Volume 6: Exorcist.

Background

Watashi no Messiah-sama was initially published in Shounen Gangan from January 12, 2002 to March 12, 2004. It moved to GFantasy on September 18, 2004 under the title Watashi no Messiah-sama: Lacrima. Volumes 1-6 retain the original title while volumes 7-13 contain the subtitle with the chapter count restarting at 0. In 2009, Kadokawa Shoten reprinted the series into six bunkoban volumes. This version edited the order of the chapters and didn't include the two one-shots, but instead added the kakioroshi chapter in volumes 5 and 6 titled "Kyou no Meshi 2009" (今日の飯2009).
