In "Twittering Birds Never Fly," Yashiro, a yakuza member who has long held feelings for Kageyama, is assigned a new bodyguard named Doumeki Chikara, who struggles with impotence. The story centers on Yashiro, a yakuza with a tendency toward masochism and lewd behavior, and Doumeki, his quiet, clumsy, and impotent subordinate. It follows the journey of a man who has never known true happiness finding redemption through his bond with another. The one-shots in Volume 1 include "Don't Stay Gold," "Tadayoedo Shizumazu," and "Saredo Naki mo Sezu."
