On Doorstep
Pickpocket Jimmy thinks he successfully lifted a wallet on a train, but Reese Heyman gives him a knowing look. Instead of turning him in, Reese makes Jimmy work a day at the bookstore as punishment. Angry and humiliated, Jimmy plots revenge by breaking into Reese's apartment. Inside, he finds out Reese is a former police officer and, scared of the consequences, flees without finishing his plan. Worried Reese might strike back, Jimmy overhears cops talking about Reese's retirement. Drawn to Reese's complicated past, Jimmy pretends to go straight and asks for a part-time job at the bookstore. As they work together, Jimmy grows strong feelings for Reese, and their relationship slowly deepens into love. Included one-shot: Lucky Bill
