In the early 1900s, advances in technology led to the creation of a refined form of magic called Makinot—spell circuits implanted into objects to bestow them with life and distinct personalities. Originally crafted for military applications, these Makinot puppets have now become widespread across the globe. Akabane Raishin enters the Royal Academy with the goal of becoming the world's foremost puppeteer. By his side is Yaya, a stunning teenage girl who is actually his puppet weapon, as he works to ascend the hierarchy quickly. Though he possesses exceptional combat skills and strong resolve, Raishin struggles academically, ranking near the bottom on examinations. To reach his objective, he must conquer the most dangerous threats among his peers and come out on top.
