Shinya is an unremarkable student, lacking athletic ability and plagued by a timid disposition that leaves him feeling insignificant. One day, he meets Haruna, a girl whose presence might change his fate. She identifies him as the Messiah, destined by the Lord to save her world, and offers to be his protector. Could this claim be true? Is his life of mediocrity simply a setup for such a significant role? Is he really the Messiah? And if he is, can he even save himself, much less an entire world? The story includes one-shots from Volume 4: Night Keeper and Volume 6: Exorcist.

Background

Watashi no Messiah-sama was initially published in Shounen Gangan from January 12, 2002 to March 12, 2004. It moved to GFantasy on September 18, 2004 under the title Watashi no Messiah-sama: Lacrima. Volumes 1-6 retain the original title while volumes 7-13 contain the subtitle with the chapter count restarting at 0. In 2009, Kadokawa Shoten reprinted the series into six bunkoban volumes. This version edited the order of the chapters and didn't include the two one-shots, but instead added the kakioroshi chapter in volumes 5 and 6 titled "Kyou no Meshi 2009" (今日の飯2009).
