There, only a few colleagues know about her secret: Hirotaka Nifuji, a blunt gaming enthusiast and her childhood friend; Hanako Koyanagi, a mature and composed woman; and Tarou Kabakura, a handsome man with a fierce demeanor who frequently clashes with Hanako. Over drinks, Hirotaka encourages Narumi to find someone who can embrace her interests. Despite her reservations—given that otakus are often perceived as odd and their kindred spirits are usually fellow otakus—Narumi wonders if a relationship between two otakus might indeed be possible. As Narumi and Hirotaka embark on a romantic journey, the series offers a heartwarming exploration of balancing career, love, and personal passions.

Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii is a web manga released on the author's pixiv account from April 17, 2014, to February 24, 2015, and published in print by Ichijinsha as part of volume 1 on April 30, 2015. Official serialization started in Comic POOL on November 6, 2015. The series ranked first in the 2016 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! for the Female Readers division. It was also nominated for the 41st Kodansha Manga Award in the Best General Manga category. The series was published in English as Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku by Kodansha USA as 2-in-1 omnibus volumes from April 17, 2018, to June 14, 2022.
