Summary

Uryuu Ishida is a Quincy and one of the few remaining survivors of his kind, serving as a close friend to Ichigo. Standing at 177 cm and weighing 57 kg at age 17, he is a bespectacled teenager with black hair and blue eyes. His attire typically consists of white Quincy garments adorned with blue stripes forming the Quincy cross, along with a mantle, though he also wears a standard high school uniform. As a Quincy, he wields a variety of tools including a Quincy Bow, Spirit Arrows, a Sanrei Glove, a Quincy Bangle, Seele Schneider, and Silver Tubes. Personality-wise, Uryuu is generally shy and quiet but attempts to project a cool demeanor around others, sometimes adopting impractical accessories like an unnecessary mantle to enhance his appearance. He possesses a strong sense of justice governed by the "Pride of the Quincy" and exhibits chivalrous behavior, often intervening to protect women from abuse or mistreatment. He demonstrated this by attempting to defend Rukia Kuchiki from Renji Abarai and Byakuya Kuchiki, as well as protecting Orihime Inoue. In combat, he prefers non-lethal methods, aiming to incapacitate opponents rather than kill them whenever possible. His relationship with his father, Ryuuken Ishida, is strained, marked by Uryuu’s rudeness in addressing him by his given name. Despite this, he shows mild offense when others criticize his father’s hospital. Uryuu is left-handed, like his deceased grandfather Sōken Ishida. He suffers from low blood pressure and dislikes procrastination, buttons, and the word "haphazard," despite his sewing expertise. His favorite food is homemade mackerel miso stew, and he enjoys Don Kanonji’s television program, "Bura-Rei."
