Summary

Meowth is a small, feline Pokémon characterized by cream-colored fur that transitions to brown at the tips of its hind paws and tail. Its ovoid head features four prominent whiskers, wide eyes with slit pupils, two upper teeth, and a gold koban coin embedded in the forehead. Black ears with brown interiors are flanked by an additional pair of long whiskers. This Pokémon can freely manipulate its claws, retracting them to move silently, and while its tail tip curls tightly, it is a quadruped capable of walking on its hind legs. Although games often depict it bipedal, the Pokémon the Series episode Go West Young Meowth (EP072) states it normally walks on all fours. Attracted to round, shiny objects, Meowth possesses the unique ability to generate coins via its signature move, Pay Day. Nocturnal in habit, it wanders city streets at night to collect sparkling items, including loose change. Upon spotting a glittering object, its eyes sparkle and the forehead coin shines brightly. It shares this fascination with another species, often fighting for objects and prey. Meowth is playful yet fickle, possessing human-like intelligence, with at least one individual teaching itself to speak. It typically resides in urban areas and, as noted in Pokémon Sleep, sleeps with its collected coins. Meowth has a Gigantamax form and two regional variants: Alolan Meowth and Galarian Meowth. Alolan Meowth displays a light blue-gray coat due to the influence of the monarchy. Its tail, whiskers, digits, and ear insides are whitish-gray rather than brown, and its whiskers curve slightly compared to the straighter version. It has silvery eyes and was introduced to Alola as a royal gift. The luxurious lifestyle fostered a selfish, prideful, and cunning nature, making them impulsive and fickle. Alolan Meowth becomes hysterical if its coin or pride is tarnished. Human actions in Alola increased their population, and after the monarchy fell, they went feral and became common. They are difficult to train due to arrogance but remain popular with trainers who enjoy giving them attention. Galarian Meowth features a shaggy, greyish-brown coat resembling a beard, yellow eyes, and a toothy grin. Its coin is black and extremely hard, with darker, harder coins being highly valued. Years of living with savage seafarers have partially turned its body to iron. Consequently, it evolves into Perrserker instead of Persian following many battles. Kantonian and Galarian Meowth do not get along. Some Kantonian Meowth can Gigantamax, growing larger and longer with a body extension from the lower half to the shoulder. The gold coin gains a symbol, and the eyes glow gold. The tail extends and becomes bumpy during attacks, accompanied by three red clouds below the shoulders. The giant coin emits Gigantamax power, creating a golden gleam. Their desire for shiny objects intensifies, causing them to damage skyscraper windows and walls to sharpen claws. The symbol on the coin is believed to hold the key to unlocking Dynamax secrets. Meowth evolves into Persian. Alolan Meowth evolves into Alolan Persian, while Galarian Meowth evolves into Perrserker.
