Haruna is an anthropomorphic avatar of the fourth Kongou Class Battlecruiser, manifesting as a teenage girl clad in a heavy coat that conceals her body up to the nose. As a Fog battle ship, she initially attempted to defeat I-401 but failed. Following this encounter, she formed a bond with Makie, who frequently refers to her as "Haru-Haru." Haruna subsequently pledged to protect Makie, even if doing so required her to act against the Fog.
