Lina Inverse serves as the central protagonist of the Slayers series, distinguished as the sole character to appear across every iteration of the franchise. Her chronological age progresses from fifteen during the first volume to approximately sixteen in the third, and finally to seventeen or eighteen by the thirteenth volume, which occurs two years after the initial events. Physically, she stands at a petite height of 147 cm. Despite her youth and diminutive stature, Lina is an exceptionally potent sorceress who harbors a deep passion for money, treasure, particularly magical artifacts, and food. In adaptations such as the anime and manga, she is depicted as recklessly employing overwhelmingly destructive magic, often without significant provocation. She has earned a reputation as a powerful, evil, and destructive sorceress, although the characterization of her as evil is inaccurate. Her family includes an older sister named Luna, a formidable swordswoman. While Lina faces down dragons, monsters, and Dark Lords without fear, the mere mention of Luna’s name triggers terrified hysteria. Additionally, she suffers from a specific phobia of slugs. Lina is known by various nicknames, including the "Dragon Spooker," a title she dislikes. This moniker is rumored to stem from an incident in the first episode where the Leader of the Dragon Fangs’ pet black dragon escapes; instead of crushing Lina and a knocked-out Gourry, the beast blushes and steps over them, causing Lina shock and subsequent rage. However, since the nickname predates this encounter, an earlier incident may be the true origin. Another alias, "Dragon Nester," derives from the rhyme, "Little girl with little breasts, scares the dragon from its nest."
