Kurosaki, Ichigo
Seiyuu / Dub
Summary
Ichigo Kurosaki is a fifteen-year-old boy at the start of his journey, who is now seventeen. He stands at 174 cm, growing to 181 cm, with his weight increasing from 61 kg to 66 kg. His birthday is July 15, under the Cancer zodiac sign. He is the son of Isshin Kurosaki and the late Masaki Kurosaki, and has two younger sisters named Yuzu and Karin. His theme song is "Number One" by Hazel Fernandes and Shiro Sagisu. To most observers, Ichigo resembles a typical teenager, except for his distinctive spiky orange hair, a trait that has drawn ridicule from others for years. He has peach skin, brown eyes, and a lean build that becomes noticeably more muscular after he gains the powers of a Shinigami, a change his sister Karin points out. In his spiritual form, he wears the standard Shinigami uniform, distinguished by a strap crossing his chest. During his childhood, Ichigo viewed his mother as the center of his universe, often smiling and holding her hand whenever they were together. As a teenager, his personality becomes far more complex. He is stubborn, short-tempered, impulsive, and outspoken, often appearing confrontational. Although he claims not to care about others' opinions, he strives to maintain a detached and "cool" image, typically keeping a permanent scowl on his face with furrowed eyebrows. Ichigo bears the heavy burden of navigating both the real world and the spirit world of Soul Society, a difficult task for someone his age who deals with personal worries. Despite this, he is quite intelligent, ranking 23rd in his high school. He works hard academically partly to prove to his teachers and classmates that his unique, somewhat punkish appearance does not prevent him from succeeding. When Ichigo first awakens as a Shinigami, his Zanpakutō appears as an oversized katana with a matching large brown sheathe, carried over his right shoulder. The sword features a rectangular bronze hand guard with inward-curved edges, stylized flame patterns on the long sides, and decorative slits on the short ones. The handle is red with two light blue tassels at the end. The immense but unfocused nature of Ichigo’s spiritual power, which he lacked control over, resulted in this oversized weapon. Because very little spiritual energy was effectively used to create it, the sword was relatively weak. Despite this, it was strong enough to defeat a Gillian-class Menos and lesser Hollows, completely blocking a Cero from the former and capable of upturning the ground with a single strike. Due to its weak spiritual energy composition, Byakuya Kuchiki easily severed most of the blade during their first encounter. Later, Kisuke Urahara sliced the sword down to the hilt during training, forcing Ichigo to learn the name of his Zanpakutō to release its true form. It is revealed that this initial sword was a manifestation of Rukia’s deprived spiritual energy rather than Ichigo’s own power.
