Summary

Wobbuffet is a tall, cyan Pokémon with a soft, pliable body. Its face typically features squinted eyes and a jagged upper lip. Sexual dimorphism is visible in the mouth area, as female Wobbuffet display a red marking resembling lipstick, whereas males lack this feature. The creature possesses flat arms that widen at the tips and four stubby legs at its base. Its black tail is marked with two eyespots, which have been shown in the Pokémon Stadium series to be capable of independent movement, including blinking and looking around. Wobbuffet is intensely protective of its tail, driven by the belief that it conceals a secret. This instinct is so strong that the Pokémon becomes suddenly aggressive if its tail is targeted. Generally docile, Wobbuffet refuses to attack first. Instead, it relies on defense, inflating its body to launch a counter-strike only when assaulted. When two Wobbuffet encounter each other, they engage in endurance contests, often competing to see who can survive longest without food, as neither will initiate an attack. Due to its extreme protectiveness over its tail and a strong aversion to light, Wobbuffet inhabits dark caves. As noted in Pokémon Sleep, it usually keeps its tail hidden even while sleeping, though it will fully expose the tail when it falls into a deep slumber and lets its guard down. Wobbuffet evolves from Wynaut.
