Summary

Born on August 14 under the Leo zodiac sign, Shuuhei Hisagi stands 181 cm tall and weighs 67 kg. As the Lieutenant of the 9th Division, he serves as the chief editor of the Seireitei Communication newspaper following the betrayal of his captain, Kensei Muguruma’s predecessor, Kaname Tosen. Although his punk-inspired appearance might suggest otherwise, Shuuhei possesses a remarkably mature and calm demeanor. He is a responsible figure who generally avoids violence when possible, projecting a virtuous image similar to his former captain until Tosen’s treason was revealed. He is frequently accompanied by Renji Abarai and Izuru Kira, both of whom, along with Momo Hinamori, regarded him as their senpai during their academy days. Despite his serious nature, side stories depict him as somewhat perverted. Shuuhei bears several distinctive tattoos, including a number 69 and various lines across his face, which are scars from a past incident where he led a group of students to fight dummy hollows in the living world. While he was skilled enough to lead trainees on mock missions and became a seated officer without additional tests, Kira notes that Shuuhei failed the academy entrance exam twice. He rarely relies on his Zanpakuto, Kazeshini, because Tosen taught him to fear its power. He has never released his sword until his battle with Findor Carias, a fraccion of Barragán Louisenbren. When Findor activated his Resureccion, Pinsa Guda, Shuuhei finally used his release command, "Reap, Kazeshini." The weapon takes the form of a katana with an octagonal tsuba in its sealed state. Beyond swordsmanship, Shuuhei is talented in Kido. He is frequently seen using the Binding Spell #62 Hyapporankan, a technique he first attempted to use against Hitsugaya in the movie The Diamond Dust Rebellion and later employed against Findor in the manga and anime.
