Synopsis
Amidst the flourishing martial arts of Japan's Edo period, Shichika Yasuri masters the unique Kyotouryuu style, a discipline that transforms the practitioner's own body into a weapon. He resides in seclusion with his sister, Nanami, enjoying a peaceful life until Togame, a resolute strategist, arrives to recruit him. Her mission is to collect the twelve legendary Deviant Blades for the shogunate. Motivated more by fascination with Togame than by political ambition, Shichika agrees to join her quest. Their journey leads them against powerful swordsmen guarding the blades and various adversaries intent on halting their progress. To overcome these formidable challenges, Shichika and Togame must work together as they traverse a perilous and unpredictable path.
Background
Katanagatari is a complete adaptation of Nisio Isin's light novel series of the same title with each episode adapting 1 volume. The anime was released monthly, mimicking the release style of the original novels.
