Summary
Meisai wields the Tsurugi, a unique blade that divides into one thousand separate swords. She goes by the name Tsuruga Meisai, which belonged to the former priest of the shrine she now oversees, claiming to have forgotten her true identity. Following the slaughter of her father, a kendo master, and his entire group by bandits, she eventually assumed leadership of the very faction responsible for the massacre. Upon discovering the shrine and its residents—shrine maidens suffering from severe physical and mental trauma—she executed all forty-three members of her bandit group. She then transported the Tsurugi to the shrine to facilitate the healing of the maidens, an act that resulted in the death of the previous Tsuruga Meisai. Her name translates to camouflage or disguise, reflecting her Sentouryuu combat style, which utilizes the myriad blades of the Tsurugi to disorient and ensnare foes while she conceals her own presence.
