Synopsis
Ryota Miyagi, Shohoku's quick point guard, relies on his sharp mind and blazing speed to outmaneuver opponents, all while keeping a calm facade. Hailing from Okinawa, he grew up with an older brother three years his senior. That brother, a celebrated local talent from an early age, inspired Ryota to fall in love with basketball as well. Now a second-year high school student, Ryota joins Sakuragi, Rukawa, Akagi, and Mitsui on the Shohoku High School squad as they compete in the Inter-High School National Championship. Their next challenge: the reigning champions, Sannoh Kogyo High School.
Background
The movie partially adapts the chapters between 223 to 276 from the manga while incorporating original scenes created for the film. It won the Best Animation of the Year award at the Japan Academy Film Prize in 2023. It also won the awards for Anime of the Year - Film, Best Director, Best Writer, and Best Visual Arts at the 2024 Tokyo Anime Award Festival.
