In the world of Duel Monsters, duelists compete for the highest honor: the title of King of Games. Hoping to join their ranks, easygoing Juudai Yuuki enrolls at Duel Academy, a prestigious school designed to train future champions. But on his first day, his carefree and absentminded nature makes him late for the entrance exam. During this mishap, he meets an old friend who gives him the "Winged Kuriboh" card, which soon becomes his reliable partner. As Juudai begins his journey as a duelist, will unexpected trials and hidden dangers steer his path in ways he never expected? Yu-Gi-Oh! GX follows Juudai's pursuit of his dream to become the King of Games. Through countless strange and extraordinary events, one thing is certain for Juudai and his friends—life at Duel Academy will never be dull.

Yuusei Fudou is determined to reclaim what was taken from him. In Neo Domino City, dueling has transformed into Riding Duels, a popular form of entertainment where battles are waged on D-Wheels—motorcycles equipped with Duel Disks. Yuusei, a skilled mechanic, built his own D-Wheel, but it was stolen by his former friend Jack Atlas, along with his prized Stardust Dragon card. After the theft, Jack left their impoverished hometown of Satellite to achieve fame in Neo Domino City. Over the past two years, Jack has risen to prominence in the dueling world, while Yuusei has prepared himself with the support of his friends. Armed with his newly completed D-Wheel, Yuusei sets out for Neo Domino City to confront Jack. However, neither is aware that unseen forces are pulling the strings behind the scenes.
