Continues the story of My-Otome 0: S.ifr
Serving as the prequel to My-Otome, this story unfolds before the events of the main series. It explores the origins of Lena Sayers, mother of Arika Yumemiya and former bearer of the Lofty Crimson Jade / Blue Sky Sapphire GEM, along with Sifr Fran, biological mother of Nina Wáng and former queen of Windbloom Kingdom. The tale also delves into the beginnings of Schwartz, Aswad, and the Garderobe Academy and its Five Columns. When Sifr is kidnapped and the staggering power of Lena's GEM is revealed, these events are destined to determine the future of Lena, Sifr, and everyone around them.
In this installment
Set in the Kingdom of Windbloom, Arika Yumemiya enrolls at Garderobe Academy to train as an Otome—a pure-hearted maiden equipped with a HiME (Highly-advanced Materializing Equipment) that grants immense powers. Arika also seeks to find her mother, a former Meister Otome who once protected and fought for the nation. At the academy, Arika forms close bonds with Nina Wáng, a skilled Otome student, and Princess Mashiro Blan de Windbloom. With their support, Arika quickly adapts to academy life, dedicating herself to intense training, building friendships, and refining her Otome abilities. Yet Arika discovers that the path to becoming an Otome is fraught with dangers and political schemes. As she confronts various personal challenges, she comes to understand that achieving her goals will demand great sacrifices.
Background
Mai-Otome was released on DVD in North America by Bandai Entertainment from July 17, 2007, to July 15, 2008. Funimation published a remastered Blu-ray and DVD collection of the series on January 9, 2018.
