Synopsis

Continues the story of Baccano!

In the early 1930s, the transcontinental train Flying Pussyfoot sets out from Chicago on a journey fated to leave a trail of blood across the country. Around the same time, the ambitious scientist Szilard and his reluctant assistant Ennis are searching for missing bottles of the immortality elixir in New York. Meanwhile, conflict among the mafia factions is escalating into open war. And aboard the Advena Avis in 1711, alchemists are about to discover the true price of eternal life. Adapted from the award-winning light novels of the same name, this anime presents several events that first appear unrelated in both time and place, yet all connect to a much larger tale—one of alchemy, survival, and immortality. Tying these threads together are the good-hearted would-be thieves Isaac and Miria, whose actions bring various people into contact, each individual carrying hidden ambitions and schemes, and in doing so create lifelong bonds and far-reaching consequences for everyone involved.

After Ladd Russo chose not to kill Graham Specter in 1929, Graham became fiercely devoted to him. Three years later, Graham learns that Ladd was thrown from a train during the Flying Pussyfoot incident, which enrages him. To make his point, Graham intends to abduct Eve Genoard and Jacuzzi Splot, who resides at the Genoard mansion with his gang. Meanwhile, Jacuzzi's group takes in a mysterious woman, Elmer C. Albatross visits an old acquaintance in prison, and Czeslaw Meyer encounters someone they desperately wanted to avoid. These seemingly separate narratives gradually converge, revealing the full account of the strange events that occurred aboard the Advena Avis in 1711.

Background

The Baccano! Specials are based on 1931 The Grand Punk Railroad Revisited, a bonus novel that came with the Baccano! drama CD The Grand Punk Railroad. The bonus novel was later expanded into 1931 Another Junk Railroad, the 14th novel of the main light novel series.
