Yura Yura Queen Locks TV Anime as Fox-Girl Comedy Hits the Pipeline

Production house Nikkatsu has greenlit a television anime of Yura Yura Queen (Yurayura Q), the supernatural slice-of-life comedy from Gido Amagakure—the creator behind Sweetness & Lightning and A Galaxy Next Door. An official site and X account went live alongside a soft, pastel teaser visual, though cast, studio, and premiere window remain under wraps for now.

The series follows Kyuuko, a half-human, half-fox high schooler born to a divine fox messenger. Flanked by eight dazzling older siblings and still fumbling her clan’s “Charm” transformation magic, she wrestles with feeling ordinary—even as childhood friend Haru swears she’s wonderful exactly as she is. Between humans, foxes, messengers, and gods who all have their own hang-ups, Kyuuko’s wobbly everyday adventures double as a gentle push toward self-acceptance.

Amagakure first tested the concept as one-shots before regular serialization kicked off in Hakusensha’s The Hana to Yume in October 2019. Volume 5 arrived in January, and the main storyline is set to wrap in the July 27 issue—with a spin-off series already booked to start next year in Hana to Yume proper. Landing an anime just as the core manga bows out is a neat full-circle moment for a title built on soft laughs and found confidence.
