Kodansha Banished Saint Fantasy LN Locks 2027 TV Anime & Leads

Kodansha’s revenge-fantasy pipeline just leveled up. An official site for the television anime of Shikiso Utsuzawa’s Because I, the True Saint, Was Banished, That Country Is Done For! went live this week, locking a 2027 premiere and rolling out the first teaser visual alongside main cast and staff.

Masumi Tazawa and Taku Yashiro headline as Eliane and Nigel—the true saint cast out by a kingdom that bet on the wrong “holy” girl, and the man who stands with her after the fall. Direction is Tsukasa Sakurai, series composition Naoki Tozuka, character designs Naru Nishikori, with animation at Tsumugi Akita Animation Lab.

The novels began on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in 2020 before Kodansha picked them up under K Ranobe Books (illustrations by Pukyunosuke). Print volumes have moved about 1.5 million copies, with a Mokuba Matsu manga on Palcy also running strong—volume 13 is due July 30—and English editions already on K Manga and Kodansha USA.

For otaku who love “wrong saint, right revenge” plots, this is the publisher stamp of approval: a long-running Kodansha property finally stepping onto the seasonal grid. Bookmark the official channels; more 2027 roadmap drops are almost certainly coming.
