Kodansha Locks 2027 Anime for Hit Drama Mii-chan to Yamada-san

Publisher Kodansha has confirmed a television anime for Nene Azuki’s web manga Mii-chan to Yamada-san (Mii-chan and Miss Yamada), with a 2027 premiere. Azuki marked the news with a commemorative illustration of the two leads—a quiet celebration for a series that has become one of Magazine Pocket’s standout dramas.

The story unfolds in Shinjuku’s host-club scene around 2012, following Yamada, a university student hustling nights as a hostess, and Mii-chan, a clumsy newcomer whose warmth cuts through the industry’s noise. What starts as an unlikely workplace bond deepens into a friendship the source material frames with both tenderness and heartbreak.

Azuki launched the series on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket platform in September 2024. Volume 6 is already out, the seventh and final book lands September 9, and circulation has climbed past 2.8 million copies. Recognition followed quickly: a fourth-place finish among male readers in Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2026 and a General-category nomination at the 50th Kodansha Manga Awards.

English readers won’t wait long either. Seven Seas Entertainment will release volume 1 on December 8. Official updates are rolling out from the anime’s new X account, @miichan__anime—worth following as cast, staff, and studio news inevitably follow.
