Fifty nationally ranked middle school tennis players receive invitations to the Japan U-17 training camp—a camp previously reserved only for high school players. At the camp, the middle schoolers encounter many formidable opponents and become involved in the camp's ranking hierarchy. They soon find themselves competing against the high schoolers—and against each other—for a place in the camp and for a spot in the top 20. With the U-17 World Cup approaching, it is a contest to determine who will represent Japan on the global stage.
