The story revolves around a Grail War that was imperfectly copied from the Third Holy Grail War in Fuyuki. Following the conclusion of the third war, a U.S.-based organization—whose members are magi independent of the Mage Association in London—extracted data from Fuyuki's Grail War and devised their own ritual. Seventy years later, they designated the city of Snowfield as the sacred ground for this Grail War. However, they failed to replicate every detail of the original ritual, resulting in an imitation that lacks the Saber class and enables the summoning of unconventional Servants, as the definition of a "hero" has become distorted.
