In modern Japan, individuals possessing "divine power" are known as "Himiko," and upon receiving national certification, they are called "Kamisama," or "God." After Nagi's grandmother passes away, the shrine in their hometown is left without a god, leading to difficulties. Nagi's twin brother, Takeru, inherited divine power but is unfortunately a hikikomori—a shut-in. By coincidence, Nagi enrolls in "Kamisama Gakkou," the school where Himiko attend. Compelled to revive the shrine, Nagi aims to obtain national qualification and become a god.
