Tokyo Ghoul
東京喰種トーキョーグール
Hidden in the shadows of Tokyo are terrifying entities called ghouls, which feed on humans to sate their hunger after nightfall. In response to the relentless assaults on civilians, an organization known as the Commission of Counter Ghoul (CCG) has been formed to eliminate these creatures. The difficulty, however, lies in detecting ghouls because they camouflage themselves as humans, blending into society to make hunting easier. Ken Kaneki, an ordinary university freshman, gets entangled in the conflict between humans and ghouls when his date reveals herself to be a ghoul craving his flesh. After barely surviving the encounter and being taken to a hospital, he learns that the surgery he received has turned him into a half-ghoul. Unable to satisfy his overwhelming hunger for human meat through normal means, Kaneki is taken in by kind ghouls who operate a coffee shop, helping him adjust to his new reality. As he embarks on what he believes will be a peaceful life, he remains unaware that he is about to become the focal point of a war between his newfound allies and the CCG, and that his transformed existence has drawn the attention of ghouls across Tokyo.
