For some time, Noriko Tachiki has been dreaming of a beautiful fantasy world, though her friends dismiss it as mere imagination. One day, while walking home, she encounters a bomb disguised as a paper bag that detonates directly in front of her. Instead of perishing, Noriko finds herself transported to a mysterious forest filled with strange plants and creatures. As she tries to navigate the woods, she is suddenly attacked by a giant worm-like monster. Fortunately, a swordsman named Izark Kia Tarj rescues her, though he does not speak her language. Without the strength to survive alone, Noriko decides to follow her stoic savior, using the chance to learn the foreign land's language and become more helpful to Izark. Unbeknownst to Noriko, she is a vital part of an ancient prophecy. She is "The Awakening"—a being fated to unleash the greatest evil, known as the "Sky Demon." With influential figures plotting to capture Noriko for her supposed powers, she and Izark must fend for themselves and face a future filled with chaos.
