Basara
BASARA
After a massive disaster at the close of the twenty-first century, Japan is transformed into an unrecognizable wasteland, and civilization's advancement grinds to a halt. In the current era, the emperor and his four sons rule the country with ruthless authority. Legends claim that only the prophesied "Child of Destiny" can release Japan from the royal family's oppressive control. Sarasa is the twin sister of Tatara, the one destined to be that child. Though she must live in her brother's shadow, she does everything she can to support him. But tragedy strikes when the Red King—the emperor's youngest son—leads an attack on her village, resulting in Tatara's violent death. To shield the villagers, Sarasa assumes her brother's identity as the Child of Destiny and swears revenge against the Red King. The sudden upheaval takes a toll on her health, so Sarasa visits a hot spring to recover. There, she encounters Shuri, a charming but enigmatic young man. Shuri is intrigued by Sarasa because she treats him unlike any other girl; meanwhile, Sarasa finds herself unable to stop thinking about him. This chance meeting seals their fate—destined to be intertwined by war, hatred, and love.
