One day, zombies attack Zhang Chulan in a graveyard. In the middle of the chaos, he saves a girl's life by tossing the kitchen knife he is holding to take down the enemies. The girl tells the relieved Zhang Chulan to confront his hardships directly, and then she leaves. But Zhang Chulan runs into that same girl again on his university campus. From that moment, Zhang Chulan's destiny begins to move. One by one, strangers with special powers appear, along with battles fought using those abilities, and every episode brings a fresh mystery to light.

Background

The Outcast is originally a web comic which was officially published in paperbook format by Zhejiang People's Fine Arts Publishing House (浙江人民美术出版社) since August 1, 2016. It began serialization under the title Yi Ren (异人, Weirdo), which was later changed to the current title. The Japanese version of the series has been serialized in the web magazine Shounen Jump+ since December 22, 2017, under the title Hitori no Shita.
