In Fuuto, criminals use USB-like devices called Gaia Memories to transform into powerful monsters known as Dopants, spreading chaos across the city. But heroes also wield Gaia Memories to fight back, such as the self-proclaimed tough-guy detective Shoutarou Hidari. Alongside his sharp-witted partner Philip, he becomes Kamen Rider W, the legendary protector of Fuuto. After the fall of Museum, the criminal syndicate behind many of Fuuto's crimes, the production and distribution of Gaia Memories have ceased. However, remaining units still circulate through society, changing hands for large sums on the black market. As a result, the detectives at Narumi Detective Agency rarely get a break. Reports of Dopant sightings continue, and the agency keeps accepting new cases involving strange supernatural incidents. Despite the difficulties they face, Kamen Rider W remains determined to ensure that everyone who threatens Fuuto will eventually answer for their wrongdoing.

Fuuto Tantei is a manga adaptation and sequel of the 2009 tokusatsu TV series Kamen Rider W or Kamen Rider Double. Kamen Rider W is a part of the Kamen Rider franchise, created by Shoutarou Ishinomori. The series ranked 15th in the 2019 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! for the Male Readers division.
