At Koudo Ikusei Senior High School, a top-tier institution equipped with cutting-edge facilities, nearly all graduates proceed to university or secure employment. Students enjoy complete freedom in choosing hairstyles and carrying whatever personal belongings they like. Kōdo Ikusei seems like a paradise, but the truth is that only the most superior students receive favorable treatment. Protagonist Kiyotaka Ayanokōji ends up in D-class, where the school dumps its “inferior” students to ridicule them. For a certain reason, Kiyotaka was careless on his entrance examination and was placed into D-class. After meeting Suzune Horikita and Kikyō Kushida, two other students in his class, Kiyotaka's situation begins to change.
