Seon Woo-jin, a destitute orphan in Joseon, crosses paths with Yamada, a Japanese yakuza who, after an incident, perceives Woo-jin's brilliance and proposes a collaboration. This leads him into Incheon's social sphere, where he forms bonds with nobles. One day, he encounters Eobyeolgyo, an independent armed group in Joseon, who disclose his father's secret and present their proposition. Opting to ally with them, he begins wagering large sums for his country's fortune.
