In "Future Diary," Yukiteru Amano, an introverted middle school student, finds himself forced into a deadly competition arranged by the deity of space and time, Deus Ex Machina. The winner will inherit Deus's immense power. Among the twelve participants, including Amano, are people who regularly keep diaries, but these have transformed into "Future Diaries," each granting distinct abilities to foresee future events. Amano's "Random Diary" appears on his phone, offering precise details about his surroundings. Though he dislikes conflict, his will to survive pushes him to team up with Yuno Gasai, a classmate and diary holder who harbors an obsessive attachment to Amano. Throughout this harsh contest, shocking revelations emerge, drastically altering the course of this sinister game.

Background

The first 10 volumes of Mirai Nikki were published in English as Future Diary by Tokyopop from May 12, 2009, to April 12, 2011, before the publisher went defunct. VIZ Media rereleased the first nine volumes digitally under the VIZ Select imprint from May 27, 2014, to December 16, 2014. The manga was also published in Italian by Edizioni Star Comics from December 10, 2011, to September 14, 2013; in Spain by Editorial Ivrea from June 15, 2012, to June 28, 2013; in Mexico by Editorial Kamite from May 28, 2015, to December 29, 2016; in Polish by Waneko from November 3, 2014, to September 1, 2016; and in Brazilian Portuguese by Editora JBC from January 2013 to January 2014.
