In "The Crayon Days," Ichinose Shima, a 16-year-old from the countryside, transfers to the prestigious Aoba Art School in Tokyo. On her first day, she meets her roommate Sarasa Ando and accidentally ruins Sarasa's artwork meant for a show. To make up for it, Ichinose is assigned to photograph boys from the boys' dorm, but Akatsuki Saji rescues her from this awkward task. Ichinose initially finds Akatsuki friendly, but soon learns he is distant. Yet, to her surprise, Akatsuki chooses Ichinose as his partner for the school festival. Though they clash sometimes, they grow close through their shared passion for painting. "The Crayon Days: Daikirai na Aitsu" follows the hopeful Ichinose as she aims to create outstanding paintings and the perceptive Akatsuki as he searches for what is missing in his own work.
